Spyware
If you find it difficult to log on to the internet, or things are generally running slow, you probably have a lot of spyware. Spyware is any program that collects information about you or your computer and shares it without your consent. Many of these programs install themselves without asking you and are very difficult to get rid of. The main problem most computer users have with spyware is that it bogs down your system. This guide will show you how to install a free application that will remove much of the spyware from your computer. There is not any single program that can remove all spyware, so once you've learned how to use this one it would be a good idea to try some others also to make sure your system is clean. Lavasoft's Ad-aware is a great program to use in conjunction with Spybot Search & Destroy, which will be detailed in this guide.
How-to Guide for Removing Spyware
- Download Spybot: Search and Destroy for free, as shown here.
- Open the downloaded program. amd follow the installation wizard.
- Skip the registry backup option by clicking next, as shown here.
- Use the Search for Updates option and download all available updates, as shown here.
- Use the Immunize this System option to help protect your system from future spyware, as shown here.
- Choose the Start Using the Program option, as shown here.
- Choose the Search & Destroy button in the left window, then select Check for Problems, as highlighted here.
- Spybot will then check for spyware, then prompt you to fix it. That's it!
